Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect

Account information

You sign in with Google or Apple. From that we receive your name, email address and profile photo. We do not receive or store your password.

Your ideas and drafts

The heart of the product: the voice recordings and text you submit, the transcripts made from them, your answers to the questions Ideabud asks, and the drafts it generates for you.

Usage and diagnostic data

Basic technical information such as app version, device type, operating system, and error logs, used to keep the app working. We also record coarse usage events — for example that a draft was generated — so we can understand which parts of the product are used. This is not linked to the content of your ideas.

Subscription data

Whether you are on the free or paid tier, plan type and renewal status. We never see or store your full card details.

2. How We Use It

• To transcribe your voice recordings into text.
• To generate the questions Ideabud asks you, and the drafts it writes from your answers.
• To store your ideas so you can return to them, and to remember earlier context so the questions stay relevant to you.
• To operate your subscription and provide support when you ask.
• To keep the Service secure, working and free of abuse.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell it.

3. We Do Not Train AI on Your Content

Your ideas, recordings, transcripts and drafts are not used to train, fine-tune or improve any AI model — ours or anyone else's. We contractually require our AI providers to process your content only to return a result to you, and not to retain it for training.

4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

Where the GDPR applies, we process your data on the basis of performance of a contract — you asked us to provide Ideabud and we cannot do that without processing what you submit — and on the basis of our legitimate interests in keeping the Service secure and functional. Where we rely on consent, such as for marketing email, you can withdraw it at any time.

5. Sensitive Information

Ideabud is a place for honest, half-formed thinking, so your entries may contain personal or sensitive material — your beliefs, your health, your relationships, your work. We do not ask for this and we do not analyse it for any purpose beyond producing your questions and drafts. By choosing to include such information, you consent to it being processed for that purpose under Article 9(2)(a) GDPR. You can delete any entry at any time.

6. Children's Privacy

Ideabud is not intended for anyone under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

7. Sub-Processors and Third-Party AI

We use the following providers to operate Ideabud. Each processes only what it needs to perform its function, under a data processing agreement.

• Deepgram (USA) — speech-to-text transcription of your voice recordings.
• Together AI (USA) — generating questions and written drafts.
• Supabase (USA / EU) — database and authentication.
• DigitalOcean (USA) — application hosting.
• RevenueCat (USA) — subscription management, using an anonymised user ID and transaction metadata only.
• Stripe (USA) — payment processing for web subscriptions.
• Apple App Store and Google Play (USA) — payment processing for in-app subscriptions.

If we add or replace a sub-processor we will update this list and, where the change is material, notify you.

8. International Transfers

Our providers are located primarily in the United States, so your data may be transferred outside your country. Where required, these transfers are made under Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) or another lawful transfer mechanism.

9. Security

Your ideas are encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest, and access to production systems is restricted and logged.

To be straightforward with you: Ideabud is not end-to-end encrypted. It cannot be — the Service has to read what you say in order to ask you a question and write your draft. In practice this means a very small number of authorised people could technically access stored content. We do not do so except where it is necessary to fix a fault you have reported to us, or where we are legally required to. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Data Retention

We keep your ideas and drafts until you delete them or delete your account. When you delete your account we remove your content from our live systems promptly and from backups within 30 days, except where we are required to retain records — such as billing records — for legal or tax purposes. To delete your account, use the app or email ideabud1996@gmail.com.

11. Marketing Communications

We only send product or marketing email if you have opted in or are an existing customer, and every such message has an unsubscribe link. Essential service messages — billing, security, material changes — are not marketing and are sent regardless.

12. Cookies and Tracking

The Ideabud apps do not use advertising cookies or browser fingerprinting. Our website uses privacy-friendly, aggregated analytics to count visits and does not build a profile of you across other sites. Cookies strictly necessary to keep you signed in are used in the web app.

13. Legal Disclosures

We may disclose personal data if legally compelled to do so, or where necessary to protect our rights or someone's safety. Where we are permitted to tell you, we will.

14. Your Rights

Subject to local law, you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, receive a portable copy, and withdraw consent. Exercise any of these by emailing ideabud1996@gmail.com — we will respond within 30 days. If you are in the EEA or UK, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

California residents

You have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, to request deletion, to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — we do not sell or share it — and not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

15. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. If a change is material we will notify you by email or in the app before it takes effect, and we will always update the date at the top of this page.
